What are your Christmas Eve traditions? My family and I used to each pick one Christmas story from our collection and read it out loud. We usually had the same ones, but our favorites were The Polar Express (which came with a bell) and The Little Crooked Christmas Tree by Michael Cutting. We’d put out cookies for Santa, and drink egg nog and hot apple cidar. Our traditions have changed a bit over the years as our family gets bigger, and we get older. Other than eating the cookies ourselves and adding rum to our eggnog & cidar, we’ve added people too. We have a nice family dinner, then extended family, friends, and the parents of significant others come over for a couple of drinks. We all open a present; matching pyjamas, put them on, and take a group photo. It’s fantastic. I love tradition. And I love that you can expect it to be the same every year. With all of the changes in my life in the last 2 years, its nice to know that there are a few things in life that will forever (hopefully) remain the same.
I think Christmas music, dim lighting and lots of smiles is crucial for a successful xmas eve! What do you guys do with your families?
I sure hope you’re not all out shopping today! The last thing you want is a stressful day before the big day kinda day.
Merry Christmas to you all. Have a fantastic morning with your families!
Love Jamie
